Demo Track Paper: Demonstrating QoE-aware 5G Network Slicing Emulated with HTB in OMNeT++

Today's networks support a great variety of services with different bandwidth and latency requirements. To maintain high user satisfaction and efficient resource utilization, providers employ traffic shaping. One such mechanism is the Hierarchical Token Bucket (HTB), allowing for two-level flow bitrate guarantees and aggregation. In this demo, we present HTBQueue- our OMNeT++ realization of the HTB, and show how the module can be used for mimicking 5G network slicing and analyzing its effect on network services.

The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition - OFC2022

The 2022 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition, the premier international event for the latest advances in optical communications and networking featured comprehensive educational programming on groundbreaking innovations—from research to the marketplace—spanning the entire ecosystem, during the hybrid event on 06 – 10 March 2022 in San Diego, CA.

Evaluation of the abstraction of optical topology models in blockchain-based data center interconnection

Data center (DC) interconnection allows us to have optical transmissions between DCs directly connected to optical networks, avoiding the use of a packet-based infrastructure. Thanks to the use of next-generation pluggable coherent optics, it is possible to create connectivity services (CSs) across multiple optical transport domains. In this multi-domain CS scenario, cloud operators and transport operators have to work together in the most dynamic way possible.

Demonstration of Zero-touch Device and L3-VPN Service Management using the TeraFlow Cloud-native SDN Controller

We demonstrate zero-touch device bootstrapping, monitoring, and L3-VPN service management using the novel TeraFlow OS SDN controller prototype. TeraFlow aims at producing a cloud-native carrier-grade SDN controller offering scalability, extensibility, high-performance, and high-availability features.

Dynamic Reconfiguration of WDM Virtual Network Topology over SDM Networks for Spatial Channel Failure Recovery with gRPC Telemetry

We experimentally demonstrate the dynamic reconfiguration of WDM VNTs in response to SDM spatial channel failures. We present an SDN control architecture with gRPC-telemetry and analytics to detect failures and restore failed virtual WDM links.

TeraFlow project launches the 1st release of a software-defined cloud-native SDN controller providing capabilities and deployments of Beyond 5G networks

The TeraFlow OS is based on container-based microservices deployed through agile DevOps processes and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) workflows, to enable transport network abstraction and interoperability across network devices from different vendors and network applications

Recording: Virtual ICT-52 Workshop on 6G

The 2-day workshop was organised by the European 6G Flagship project Hexa-X together with other ICT-52 6G projects. The event was open to all and free of charge.

Ricard Vilalta from CTTC, and TeraFlow project coordinator, held the presentation "TeraFlow: Use cases for a novel cloud-native SDN controller for beyond 5G networks" within the session "6G use cases and societal values - including aspects of sustainability, security and spectrum".
